Steve Frederick, Sr.

    Steve Frederick, Sr. has been the Music and Education Minister at Griffith Memorial Baptist Church since May 2008. Steve has served churches in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas He is a native of  Helena-West Helena, Arkansas and is an avid Razorback, Tim Tebow, Peyton and Eli Manning, Patrick Willis, and SEC Football fan. Steve is married to Dr. Beverly Ward Frederick, and they have four beautiful children, Steven, Jr. (26),  Anna (22), Ben (14), and Abbi (13).

    

    Steve graduated from Helena-West Helena Central High School in 1976 where was heavily involved in music and drama. He attended the University of Central Arkansas where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi National Fraternity and earned a degree in Speech and Drama.While at UCA, Steve swam the 200 m backstroke for the UCA Swim Team. Steve graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Liberty University. He also graduated with honors from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned his Master of Arts and Master of Divinity degrees. Steve is currently working toward his Doctorate of Ministry in Worship Studies from Liberty as well. Steve was licensed and ordained by Bethel Baptist Church in Water Valley, Mississippi.

 

     Steve  has served as Minister of Music and Youth at Bethel Baptist Church, Water Valley, Mississippi, Minister of Music and Youth for First Baptist Church of Bruceton, Tennessee, and Minister of Music and Education for Southside Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas before coming to Griffith.

    

    Steve loves God, his wife Beverly, his children and loves to spend time with them and also attending sporting events. Steve's philosophy toward ministry is that "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care." It is this statement that drives the passion Steve has for the ministry and for all people.

 

RANDOM FACTS: His idea of roughing it is a night at the Holiday Inn, he is a Sonic Diet Coke-a-holic, he loves trips to the mountains as well as to the beach. His goal is to one day go and see the Holy Land. He met his wife Beverly when they were cast as husband and wife in the Helena Little Theater's production of The Music Man.
